While surfing the web during my lunch break, I stumbled upon this website. I couldn’t help but to share it because it encompasses many things I’m interested in such as African-American history, weddings, HBCUs, and of course…Spelman College.
A’Lelia Bundles is a wonderful author, and she put together an amazing writing piece about her grandmother’s fabulous Harlem Renaissance wedding. It’s obvious that this woman encompasses style, class, decorum, and intelligence. Please take a moment to view it at A’Lelia Bundles.

Thanks very much for sharing my story about my grandmother’s wedding with your readers. More Spelman stories to come in the book. Mae Walker was a student there from 1916 to 1920.

Thank you for sharing this. I’m going to conct Spelman archives because this needs to be included (if its not already).
Thanks! I was able to do some research in the Spelman Archives a couple of years ago and found items about my grandmother. I even have letters from Miss Tapley in my family archives collection. I lived in Atlanta for five years and have great affection for Spelman and its alumnae.

Wow, that’s amazing! I would love to learn more about her. Are you planning on writing a book about your grandmother?
Yes, my grandmother, Mae, will be very much a part of “Joy Goddess,” the biography I’m currently writing about A’Lelia Walker. She was on the scene and part of the activities that took place at the Walker homes in Harlem and at Villa Lewaro during the 1910s and 1920s. There are a couple of blog posts about her on my blog at http://www.aleliabundles.com.
Will definitely keep you posted on the pub date.

As you moderate your comments, have you seen the story I wrote about http://teamoyeniyi.com/2011/12/02/i-am-an-atheist-and-we-dont-live-in-kentucky/ I could NOT believe it!
Hmmmmmmmmmm _ mean that you should delete the above comment – it is a message to you only, really!
Yea, that was sickening. People can be so ignorant.
Lovely photo!
